This is why, we generally install, test, test and tweak. I may need you or technical person to help solve device conflicts, network, internet, routers, hardware, install PageMaster, PM modem or other softwares and reboots.
Somethings we just can't do remotely.. Don't let this scare you, it all come normally, some it through installating. It's just that everything needs to be itested, rebooted so this is not always for everyone.. its not brain surgrey either. We need to train someone... there's a lot to just talk about if you want to know something. Maybe get good 12th grader and the main reason this page is here.. (its not refined yet).. it's for my notes for you. I want you to feel good with this product, this company and the support and appreciate the intellectual property.

If your planning more than 2 workstations, use XP Pro (Not Home Edition)
We will not setup additonal operator work stations until station 1 is completely functioning, then its a breeze.
Install 2 modems, one for PageMaster, the other for Windows dialing & EfStar that emails and faxes.
If you use PollStar, you needs a separate and 3rd serial device port to plug into the tele equipment..
Rule: the above serial devices shall not conflict.
Suggest just turning off PlugNPlay, so Windows Plug NPlay does not try to change its nature or our pretested setup.
Make note what comports and some notes on modems information is handy, of each computer used. Go to Window Start | Control Panel | Phone & Modem
Is your Operating System up todate. FileMaker requires Service packs 1 & 2
Copy and install KisStar and if required, PollStar files
Create 2 new folders. efStar folders setting share & privilges
call them efstar_email and efstar_fax
Install efStar fax & email to your c:\programs\efstar etc defaults
Note: this application uses your Windows modem setup.
Make note what MS Famework version 2.0 already installed in your XP
Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Software, Find MS Framework
(Do not change Famework versions if using a Vista Operating System)
The EfStar installation will install MS Framework ver 2.0 if not found.
Write down your LogMeIn information and passwords
Write down your email Outgoing SMTP information, email address, port, username and password
Maybe, test or use at the beginning KisStar emailing default done through Outlook Express before enabling efStar emailing option. The later setup option is preferred
Enable configure and preform the 'Write Path' test both efStar fax and email. This is config inside Kisstar /Admin Menus before testing
Install FileMaker application - suggest station 1 with a FM license vs a runtime version of MASTAR. Especially if running PollStar runtime software. So KisStar starts using the FM engine and is license getting prepared for additional operator KisStar stations
At this point.. We do not need to build multi operator workstations, networking, routers. We will first test & get working together all these pieces running on station #1 computer, can call it the server.
Turn of your computer between all this, making certain of your procedures, and no serial devices get switched.
Test Kisstar, setup fax/email cofigure
If PollStar is installed, Test reading incoming lines and setup cofig.
Note: What Serial Port Device:
Do not share device port/ Irq's with any other modem or device.
Maybe in bios turn off Plug NPlay for this, even for your modems
If efStar previously installed...
Uninstall efStar/Reboot if installing new version,
Then Install efStar
We use Kistar to test account setup with a fax phone number
We use Kistar to test client setup with an email address
Install FaxManJr demo application not include, if requiring further test,
Sample files or alternative or manual fax test method
Set file sharing inside when running KisStar file manager
Copy & Preview that there are 2 fmx files (troi & zipp)
/Programs Files/filemaker/Extension folder.
Later on there can be other FMX files
mmscript is for auto popup scheduled events
Add/ setup your short cuts on the desktop, learn & arrange screen layouts
Install the PageMaster application. The demo =14 days, Get activation code
Setup test PM device names or clients and their service providers, test.
(requires dedicated modem)
Note: after installing modem, go back and test PollStar function on its own device and again test the other modem is function. Remove Plug Nplay if you must.
Install Logme in application for MASTAR remote support
Install RealVNC or vnc option to share left part portion of station 1 'the inoming call" window on other VNC viewers.
Additional workstations, each required a modem and dialtone, and a different FileMaker license installs per station.
For testing dialtone and modems maybe T modem line sides together to 1 line temporary. Meaning you have to raise your hand to any one else wanting dialtone.. Kind of a game but its temporary until you decide to add another line to dial out on.
POLLSTAR troubleshooting
Create icon shortcut on your DeskTop called "Test DigTrapOutput" using Windows | Accessories Communication |HyperTerminal.
Configure to TEST serial device that PollStar is set for at:
Port#/ 9600, 8n1, no flow.
Run test without PollStar running and run PollStar after test is exited
This image show how entering a manual incoming all inside PollStar displays the correct line# and answer phrases. And, along with HyperTerm test evaluates where the possible problem is.

Connect to Router for your Internet
Test/ Write note Windows Phone & Modem in Control Panel
Install FileMaker
Copy FMX files from Station1 Programs | FileMaker | Extension so workstation same Extension directory
If your using PollStar... we will use VNC Viewer on station to put a portion of station1 incoming calls on your workstation left area of screen. KisStar resides on the rightside of your monitor viewed.
Note: PollStar is passive not focus and only a view of PollStar incoming call window. Select the 200 pixel width window placing it top left sizing the window to the left
